Contemporary Fresco paintings based on the ancient craft of brushing color pigments into wet plaster. Inspired by visits to Pompeii and other ancient sites in Italy. In my work I explore the creation of fresco fragments (frammenti) - broken pieces of the whole - to create modern fresco art inspired by ancient artwork. I also like to bring attention to this magical craft - perfected by the old italian masters Michelangelo, Raphael, … - which doesn’t get the appreciation in our modern world that is deserves.
