Palmtrees in the Wind

This wall sculpture was inspired by the unique movement and energetic flow of the wood grain. I laminated three different layers of wood and then started carving long feathery lines to further expose and enhance the dynamic of the wood grain. It felt like the wood grain was tossed around like palm tree leaves in the wind. I finished the inside with Linseed Oil and the outside edge with black flat paint. Installed on a wall.

Unlike my other "flow" pieces, this one has a rough wooden surface (not sanded), just what you would experience when driving on the backroads. Each of the six tiles measures about 7.5 x 7.5 inches.
